Another thing he doesn't understand is that China is not communist anymore, despite its namesake ruling party. As to China's ambitions, he projects US behaviour: the US has used its military to expand its influence and its territory as far back as the Mexican-American war in the mid 19th Century and later when it conquered the Philippines. China, in its multi thousand year history, has never used its armed forces to invade another country (they were invited by North Korea), except Vietnam (a communist rival) in 1979. China is not the US and does not behave like the US and other colonial and imperial powers who's armed forces were used to expand their economic influence.
