“Why do we care if there’s no father? I grew up without a father and I’m doing fine. Why are we so towards the father? Why does he need to be there so much?”
The Importance of Fathers in Black Families
Interview with a College Student
By: [Author’s Name]
In a recent interview, a college student expressed her views on the role of fathers in Black families. She discussed her own experiences growing up without a father and how she believes she has thrived despite his absence. However, the conversation delved deeper into the societal impact of fatherless homes in the Black community.
The student questioned the necessity of a father figure in a child’s life, arguing that a mother’s love and support can suffice. She also discussed the influence of rap culture on Black youth and the glorification of certain behaviors that may not align with traditional values.
When the interviewer raised the issue of systemic racism and its impact on Black families, the student acknowledged the challenges but emphasized the importance of focusing on healthy relationships rather than generalizing all fathers as negative influences. They also debated the role models available to Black youth, with differing opinions on the value of a Supreme Court Justice versus a popular rapper.
Ultimately, the discussion highlighted the need for strong family units and positive role models in the Black community to combat societal issues and promote success among youth.
Conclusion
What are your thoughts on the importance of fathers in Black families? Do you believe that strong family units and positive role models are essential for the success of youth in marginalized communities? Share your opinions in the comments below.
I like Charlie but his Kendrick take is WILD. Bro had an entire album on how he was healed from the life he once had, and how he has gone to therapy and broken free from lust and greed. Kendrick is not a Christian man, but he is still imo a good role model. He’s smart, a family man (he has a wife and kids and raises his kids) and overall in interviews and how he is talked about a kind person.
This was painful to watch. She’s being completely disingenuous—he obviously didn’t know who Kendrick Lamar is and she is completely disrespectful of fathers. She darn well knows good fathers contribute a lot.
But Kirk is frustrating too. He’s not trying to convince anyone-understand another point of view and find ways to bridge the differences. He’s just trying to score points.
I think this is a perfect example of what is wrong nowadays. Both sides have no respect for each other and aren’t trying to work together. A house divided cannot stand. We’ve got to fix this somehow.
This girl knows all about the gang life and rap game lol
She’s full of crap.
From the thumbnail I thought he was about to debate Dave mustaine from Megadeth
"Kendrick Lamar who sleeps around"… he's been with the same girl since 2011. LOL
She’s a disaster
Omg these young people are so brainwashed and stupid. Glorifying a rapper who sleeps around over an intelligent Supreme Court Justice who overcame poverty by hard work and ethics. Smh…
0:08 DISCIPLINE!
It's always astonishing the white people who will line up to be an expert on black culture, specifically black American culture
2Pac – Changes
I'm the youngest of three boys. My parents got divorced and we moved with my mother three states away. I was five when this happened. She had a couple deadbeat boyfriends after that one who abused me and maybe my older brothers. She eventually met my stepdad about a year later who was an excellent father to me. I saw my real father every summer up until about 15. My stepfather was not an overtly hands-on man. My two older brothers were felons by the time I left for the military at 19. My oldest had been in out of jail six different times while I was in high school and ultimately went to prison for attempted murder. My middle brother is a pedophile and my stepfather and my real father would never put their foot down and drop him like they should have. Well I love my stepfather and I think he did a good job raising me, I didn't strive to be like any of my parental figures, I strived to not be like my brothers. I wish I had a more masculine presence in my life when I was growing up. It was hard when I first joined the military to really find my masculinity because I did not know what that meant. Now I have a son and two daughters and I refuse to let them grow with a weak male as their father figure.
Clarence Thomas has additional ethical problems. He's smart alright.
A father actually has to earn his way out of the cool uncle phase. There's that initial chemical bond between a mother and child that can't be argued but a father has to be there and make ripples in a child's life in order for them to be a good human being to others.
It’s amazing she has the same voting power as me
I agree with her that Kendrick Lamar is a bad example.
He is a genius on its own and empowering blacks to stop drinking and he has a healthy relationship with his wife and kids so saying he sleeps with everything that walks is disrespectful but fuck the feelings it’s literally not true. Swimming Pools, FEAR., Sing about me,Dying of thirst are masterpieces wich more ignorant people are willing to listen to and maybe even act on it than some smart, intelligent and well spoken black who is just stating facts that will make them feel uneasy, not that it’s bad stating just straight facts but most people hate the truth just like these liberals he debates with. So I think Rap or music overall has a bigger influence on young people and thats good WHEN its purpose is to build up and thats the thing most mainstream rappers, the big fishes don’t do that (Future,Gunna,Youngboy) wich preach the exact opposite of what Kendrick is trying to avoid like make drugs, violence, gang activity, excessive capitalism cool these are things that have a bad influence.
She is in denial
Father's influence children as much as mothers Particularly with the opposite sex children.
Daughters can learn alot about men from their fathers and hopefully be guided by them to choose wisely in their relationships
i love people that say ‘i think i turned out okay’ and they can’t even stand straight. such an eye roller for me
If you never had a good father in your life, you wouldn't know what you were missing, so. Same thing if you never had a good mother.
Using Kendrick as a rapper that sleeps around wasn't a very good example. He's also around his kids setting a great example of a father being around
It's great isn't it? To be young and ignorant, it's a bliss.
Theres a difference between being raised by a well mannered mother whos living in the suburbs, to a bad influenced mother living in the hood, trying to raise a child. The results are very different.
That was sooooo embarrassing omg this girl. White knight liberal, Malcolm X warned about them 60 years ago and she’s spewing the same rubbish
This young generation is brainwashed.
I don't think she was a race warrior?
Unless the topic came before she explained how she came froma single mother family and that she didn't really feel the lack of a father.
Seen other videos from Carlie but it was werid how the discussion gone towards black families, it was a good discussion and is clear the girl wasn't very deep on the argument.
when it comes to rap I think Charlie is incorrect, you have your cardie B but then you have your common the Roots and public enemy, it's a spectrum, and no not having a father is a stigma in the black community that we don't glorify we laugh at people with no father, come to think about it 80% of black fathers take care of their kids, and you have to remember in 1964 during Lbjs great society women depend on the government over men and men where not allowed in the household, so I disagree on what charlie said
Kendrick Lamar has never ever won a Novel prize, he won a Pulitzer but not a Novel
A good boyfriend will stay away from a father and daughter if they're dating that daughter.
I respect Charlie Kirk and appreciate his values. 99.9% of what he says I agree. My only disagreement Is how he always misunderstands the single mother households. 1. Hold the woman responsible for getting impregnated by thugs. 2. This may be based off my perception but 7/10 of the single mothers Ik push the fathers away and sleep around with many other men. It’s not always or most of the time men just up and leave, there’s not one statistic that can prove it, it’s just a broad statement.
Isn't it amazing how little white college girls are experts on black culture. 😂😂😂😂😂
I love that everyone needs their phone to have thoughts.
Why father needs to br there??? Omg….what a dumb dumb question…dumb dumb kids…he has a lot of patience…
